About this fabric

This colourway has the quiet depth of a near-black grey, softened by a subtle cool cast rather than any obvious warmth. The plain velvet surface gives it a refined, even appearance, and the pile catches the light just enough to create gentle tonal movement across the cloth. It is supplied in a 137cm width and has a robust 100,000 Martindale rub test, making it suitable for contract and general domestic upholstery as well as curtains and loose covers. The fabric is also FR rated to BS5852 Part 1 Source 0 and 1, and its recycled-polyester blend helps give the velvet a practical, hard-working handle.

How to use it

Use Nickel where you want a dark, controlled backdrop that still feels soft rather than stark. It works especially well on structured seating, deep cushions, or full-length curtains in contemporary rooms with pale stone, oak or brushed metal finishes.

A sleek dark neutral that looks especially smart on tailored upholstery or blackout curtains.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
