About this colour

This shade reads as a warm clay red with enough brown in it to keep the colour soft on the wall. Its #BA7053 value gives it a mid-depth presence: it holds its own, but it does not block light, so the colour feels fuller in the room rather than dark. In a north-facing room it will lean cooler and a little duskier, with the brown in the mix becoming more noticeable. In south-facing light it looks richer and sun-warmed, with the red element coming forward beside pale oak, walnut, cream upholstery and natural linen. In Active Emulsion or Waterbased Eggshell, it suits walls, joinery and built-in woodwork where a warm, earthy colour is wanted.

How to use it

Rowan Berry works well in a sitting room, dining room or hallway, especially beside upholstered pieces in oatmeal, russet, olive or deep navy. It also sits neatly against painted trim, dark timber and aged brass, where its warmth feels deliberate rather than sugary.
