Calcutta Indigo

Calcutta Fabric

Calcutta Indigo is a dark, tailored stripe with a cool indigo base and fine pale flecks running in horizontal bands. The effect is crisp and understated, with just enough texture to keep the surface lively.

About this fabric

Woven in a durable upholstery quality, Calcutta Indigo combines 40% viscose, 34% polyester, 20% cotton, 3% acrylic and 3% nylon for a balanced, practical handle. The 137 cm width and 25,000 Martindale rub test make it well suited to everyday seating, while the small horizontal repeat of H35 x V7.5 creates a neat linear rhythm. Visually, the cloth reads as a deep blue-grey indigo with scattered light slubs that break up the darkness and add a lightly weathered character. The stripe is subtle rather than graphic, so the pattern feels refined and contemporary rather than bold.

How to use it

Use this colourway on sofas, armchairs or banquettes where a smart navy-leaning tone will anchor the room without feeling heavy. It pairs especially well with pale oak, chalky neutrals and brushed metal accents.

A crisp indigo stripe with a tailored feel for clean-lined seating.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
