About this colour

This shade reads as a mid-deep grey with a slight blue-green cast, so it feels cooler than a true charcoal but softer than a hard industrial grey. It absorbs a fair amount of light, which gives walls a calm, settled look rather than a bright reflective one. In north-facing rooms, Gargoyle can lean more slate-like and feel noticeably cooler; in south-facing light, the warmth in the room brings out its steadier, more balanced grey side. It works well beside pale oak, walnut, blackened metal and muted upholstery tones such as oatmeal, stone, ink blue and moss.

How to use it

Use Gargoyle in a sitting room, study or hallway where you want a composed backdrop for joinery or panelling. It suits painted woodwork, dark timber furniture and upholstered pieces in natural linen, velvet or muted patterned chairs.

On a wall, Gargoyle gives a room a calm, cool grey presence with real depth.
