Saxon Red

Burford Weaves II FabricBF11083.450

Saxon Red has a muted coral-red ground with a finely woven, almost striated surface. Pale flecks and closely spaced horizontal lines soften the colour, giving the swatch a gently weathered depth rather than a flat block of red.

About this fabric

This GP & J Baker textile is woven from 44% viscose, 21% linen, 13% polyester, 6% wool, 13% cotton and 3% nylon, creating a visibly mixed, lightly textured surface. Its 137 cm width carries a subtle construction with a 16 cm vertical pattern repeat and a very close 2.5 cm horizontal repeat. Rated at 30,000 Martindale, it is suitable for curtains, loose upholstery, fixed upholstery and bedspreads. The coral-red tone is softened by fine pale threads, while care is limited to professional dry cleaning: do not wash, bleach or iron.

How to use it

Use Saxon Red to bring a warm, muted coral note to an upholstered chair, sofa or headboard, where its fine horizontal texture can add interest without becoming visually dominant. It also has enough softness and tonal variation for curtains or a bedspread in a relaxed, layered scheme.

A softly textured coral-red weave with enough durability for upholstery and the flexibility to dress curtains or bedspreads.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
