Modena Gallant Grey

Modena Fabric14401

Modena Gallant Grey reads as a very deep charcoal with an almost black surface and a soft, low-sheen finish. In the swatch, the plain weave catches the light just enough to reveal a quiet, worked texture rather than a flat colour block.

About this fabric

This plain from the Modena collection is made in 100% polyester and specified for contract use, with a robust 80,000 Martindale rub test for demanding seating schemes. The colourway is a cool, deep gallant grey that sits close to black, with fine tonal variation across the surface that gives it more depth than a solid noir. Its subtle nap and low luster soften the shade, so it feels tailored rather than glossy. It is supplied back coated to Cigarette & Match to BS5852, and after care includes professional dry clean in situ or washability at 40°C, subject to the pattern book guidance.

How to use it

Use this charcoal-grey plain on banquettes, dining chairs or contract seating where you want a sharp, understated finish. It pairs well with pale timber, brushed metal and lighter neutrals, letting the dark tone anchor the scheme without looking harsh.

A dark, practical neutral with a subtle depth that suits tailored seating and contract schemes.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
