Maison Noir

Maison Fabric147

Maison Noir reads as a deep charcoal-black plain with a softly mottled surface and a dry, tactile finish. The folds in the swatch catch a faint sheen at the edges, giving the colour a quiet depth rather than a flat black look.

About this fabric

Woven in 100% polyester and specified for heavy domestic use, Maison Noir combines a tailored plain appearance with serious durability. Its 80,000 Martindale rating makes it a strong choice for hard-working seating, and the fabric is supplied back coated to Cigarette & Match to BS5852, with other treatments available on request. Visually, the colour sits between black and charcoal, with a muted graphite cast that softens in the light and shows the weave rather than reading as glossy. Professional dry clean in situ is recommended, with further care guidance in the pattern book.

How to use it

Use this soft charcoal black to anchor a pared-back sofa, wing chair or banquette, especially against lighter walls or timber. It works well in schemes that need contrast without a harsh jet-black finish.

A deep, understated black with a subtle woven surface for tailored upholstery.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
