About this fabric
Part of the Vintage Velvet collection by J Brown, this plain design is woven in 100% polyester and specified for contract use. It carries a 30,000 Martindale rating, making it well suited to hardworking upholstery, while the surface shown here has a dusky black cast with grey highlights that appear as the pile catches the light. The texture looks smooth and dense, with a gentle horizontal nap that softens the overall shade without losing its depth. It is supplied back coated to Cigarette & Match to BS5852, and after care is wipeable or professional dry clean in situ.
How to use it
Use this charcoal colourway on sculptural seating, banquettes or dining chairs where you want a dark, architectural anchor. It pairs especially well with pale wood, brushed metal and warm neutrals that lift the depth of the pile.
A dark charcoal velvet that adds depth and a tailored finish to modern seating.

Pairs well with
Vintage Velvet Bowler Hat is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it
Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
