Bute Teal

Festival FabricFD749.R11

Bute Teal is a deep, cool teal woven with fine taupe-grey lines forming a neat windowpane check. Its subtly textured wool surface gives the colour a softly layered, tactile appearance rather than a flat finish.

About this fabric

The rich blue-green ground reads as muted and sophisticated, while the lighter intersecting lines bring definition without overpowering the teal base. The small check has a 7.5 cm vertical repeat and 7 cm horizontal repeat, creating an evenly scaled pattern for furniture and soft furnishings. Woven from 100% wool and supplied at 147 cm wide, this fabric is specified for curtains, loose upholstery, fixed upholstery and bedspreads. It has a 35,000 Martindale rub test; after care is professional dry cleaning only, with no washing, bleaching or ironing.

How to use it

Use this cool teal check on a tailored armchair, sofa or headboard to introduce colour with a quietly structured pattern. It also works as full-length curtains or a bedspread, where the fine taupe-grey lines can sit comfortably with warm woods, neutral linens and aged brass.

A finely checked teal wool with enough durability for upholstery and enough versatility for curtains and bedspreads.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Bute Teal without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
