Bute Red

Festival FabricFD749.V106

Bute Red has a deep brick-red ground crossed with fine beige lines, forming a neat, understated check. Its softly textured wool surface gives the colour a dry, tactile depth rather than a glossy finish.

About this fabric

The woven design shows compact rectangular checks in muted beige and red, with the darker red ground remaining the dominant impression. A lightly nubby wool texture softens the precise grid and gives the shade subtle variation across the swatch. Made from 100% wool, the fabric is 147 cm (57.75") wide and has a 35,000 Martindale rub test. Its 7.5 cm vertical and 7 cm horizontal pattern repeats suit curtains, loose upholstery, fixed upholstery and bedspreads.

How to use it

Use Bute Red to bring warm, tailored depth to a reading chair, sofa or headboard, pairing the brick-red tone with natural timber, aged brass and quiet neutral walls.

A tailored red wool check suited to upholstered seating, curtains and coordinated bedspreads.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Bute Red without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
