Moray purple
Ettrick Fabriccardo/fa1/vio
Moray Purple shows a repeating thistle-inspired motif set against a dark ground, with violet flower heads and olive-green foliage creating a rich, moody contrast. The woven texture gives the design a tactile, slightly rustic feel rather than a flat print.

About this fabric
This Ettrick colourway is a 78% cotton, 22% polyester fabric with a substantial 594gsm handle and a 14,000 Martindale rub test, making it well suited to hard-working decorative interiors. The pattern repeat is 17.5 cm horizontally and 25 cm vertically, which helps the staggered thistle forms read clearly across larger pieces. Visually, the purple blooms are softened and slightly heathered, sitting over a very dark ground that makes the olive stems and leaves appear fresh and graphic. It is dry clean only and iron safe, and at 138 cm wide with a usable width of 138 cm it is practical for curtains, blinds and soft furnishings.
How to use it
Use Moray Purple on occasional chairs, ottomans or cushions where the deep plum tones can sit against timber and slate, or pair it with warm neutrals to keep the motif feeling crisp. It also works well for lined curtains in rooms that need a little drama without losing the natural, woodland character of the design.
A moody thistle motif that adds character to compact upholstery and statement cushions.

Pairs well with
A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Moray purple without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it
Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
