Amara Butterfly Cinnabar/Ink Black

Water Garden Fabrics FabricSAF0377-01

Amara Butterfly Cinnabar/Ink Black is a vivid, jewel-toned botanical fabric with a dense all-over pattern of flowers, leaves and butterflies. The deep cinnabar ground makes the cream, blush and ink-black detailing read sharply and with real depth.

About this fabric

This Sanderson fabric from the Water Garden Fabrics collection is supplied as a 135 cm usable width textile with a 60 m standard length, a 69.5 cm vertical repeat and 90 cm horizontal repeat. At 416 gsm and 57.7 threads per cm, it reads as a substantial woven cloth rather than a light decorative fabric. The image shows a saturated cinnabar red base with layered botanical motifs in cream, blush, tan and black, giving the surface a rich contrast and a slightly theatrical finish. The black butterfly wings and outlined florals sharpen the pattern, while the warmer notes stop the red from feeling flat or harsh.

How to use it

Use it on statement chairs, a sofa front, or tailored cushions where the bold red ground can anchor the room. It works especially well with dark timber, aged brass and quiet neutrals that let the cinnabar and ink-black pattern stay central.

Pair with matte black wood or warm brass to let the rich cinnabar ground and inky detailing stand out.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Amara Butterfly Cinnabar/Ink Black without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
