Kayar Charcoal

Kenya FabricL9285-03

Kayar Charcoal shows a lively black-on-ivory wave pattern with a hand-drawn, slightly irregular rhythm. The pale ground keeps the design bright, while the charcoal lines give it a crisp, graphic edge.

About this fabric

This Larsen Kenya fabric is woven in a blend of 45% viscose, 34% cotton and 21% acrylic, giving it a textile feel that sits comfortably between upholstery and drapery use. The repeat is approximately V 76cm / H 36cm, and the pattern reads as closely spaced, horizontal, undulating lines that create a sense of movement across the surface. In this colourway, the charcoal motif sits over a warm ivory ground, so the design feels sharper and more contrasty than a softer grey version, yet still light enough to avoid looking heavy. The visible texture has a dry, woven character rather than a smooth print effect, which adds depth and makes the surface feel tactile and tailored.

How to use it

Kayar Charcoal works well with pale oak, blackened metal and simple linen upholstery, where its ivory ground can lift a darker scheme. It also brings a clean graphic note to relaxed rooms, especially when paired with warm neutrals or smoky greys.

Use it to add graphic contrast without losing a light, airy ground.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
