Emington purple

iKon Fabricemingto/fa1/fig

Emington Purple shows a scrolling damask in dusty mauve and soft plum tones, lifted by a pale ground that keeps the design feeling airy rather than heavy. The large-scale motif has a gently distressed look that softens the contrast and gives the cloth a relaxed elegance.

About this fabric

Woven in 69% cotton and 31% polyester, this fabric has a substantial 530gsm handle and a 20,000 Martindale rub test, making it suitable for curtains, blinds and upholstery. The visible finish is matte and textural, with the purple pattern sitting slightly lifted against the lighter base so the leaves and curls read with depth. In this colourway the purple is muted and cool-leaning, balanced by smoky lilac and heathered undertones rather than bright violet. The large 66cm vertical repeat and 36cm horizontal repeat suit statement drapes or an upholstered feature chair where the scrolling motif can be seen clearly.

How to use it

Use Emington Purple on full-length curtains for a softly decorative look, or upholster a deep-buttoned armchair to bring out the large damask scale. It works especially well with pale timber, stone shades and antique brass, which echo the fabric’s muted mauve depth.

Pair with warm neutrals or aged brass to let the soft purple motif stand out.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Emington purple without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
