Torrington Purple brings a soft, painterly wash of lavender and lilac across the Tiverton design. The birds and foliage sit on a light ground, giving the print an airy, decorative feel.

About this fabric

Woven in 95% cotton and 5% linen, this 230gsm fabric has enough substance for curtains, blinds and soft furnishings while keeping a relaxed handle. The visible surface reads as a lightly textured cloth rather than a smooth print base, which suits the gentle, watercolour-style artwork. In this colourway, the purple appears muted and cool rather than saturated, with lilac, mauve and blue-violet notes picked out in the birds’ plumage and leaves. The 136cm usable width and 136cm horizontal repeat make it suitable for larger decorative schemes, while the 90cm vertical repeat gives the pattern an expansive, mural-like rhythm. Dry clean only and cool iron if needed.

How to use it

Use it where the soft purple can breathe, such as lined curtains or Roman blinds in a pale scheme. It works especially well with sage, chalk white and weathered timber for a calm, layered look.

Pair with pale woods and muted greens to let the painterly birds and foliage stay airy.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
