Samphrey Check Fig/Teal

Islay Wools FabricSAF0270-02

Samphrey Check Fig/Teal pairs a soft tartan check with a dusky, heathered finish that reads both grounded and fresh. The fig tones are lifted by cool teal and grey, giving the cloth a quietly characterful look.

About this fabric

This woven check has the classic rhythm of a tartan, but the colours are softened and blurred just enough to feel relaxed rather than crisp. The fig shades sit against slate grey grounds, while teal stripes bring a cooler, more contemporary contrast across the surface. At 383gsm, with a usable width of 139cm and a 30cm vertical repeat by 28cm horizontal repeat, it is a substantial cloth with the body expected of an upholstery fabric. The 27.5 threads per cm help create the tight, woolly texture visible in the swatch, giving the pattern a refined, lightly brushed appearance.

How to use it

Use it on an armchair, ottoman or dining seats where the fig-and-teal palette can add colour without feeling loud. It also works well with oak, painted grey joinery and plain wool cushions in one of the deeper tones.

Use with plain wool or velvet to let the fig and teal checks stay vivid.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
