Melford Corn is a softly striated weave in a pale corn cream, with a subtle herringbone-like texture that reads calm and light. The fine vertical rhythm gives the cloth a tailored, quietly classic feel.

About this fabric

Part of Sanderson’s Melford Weaves collection, Melford Corn is a woven fabric with a usable width of 138.5 cm and a substantial 270gsm weight, making it versatile for both upholstery and drapery. The cloth shows a delicate herringbone-like structure with a very small 1.6 cm horizontal repeat and no vertical repeat, so the surface feels orderly rather than busy. In this colourway, the tone is a warm, muted corn cream with a gentle natural linen cast and a slightly sunlit softness. The weave catches the light in fine diagonal lines, giving the fabric texture without strong contrast or harshness.

How to use it

Use Melford Corn where you want a soft neutral with more character than plain cream: on a small armchair, dining seats or relaxed curtains. Its warm, pale tone works especially well with oak, chalky paint colours and layered natural textures.

A quietly warm neutral that layers easily with oak, linen and painted woods.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Melford Corn without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
