Wilmott Ebony

Whitworth Fabric FabricCCF0753-03

Wilmott Ebony pairs a deep, near-black ground with closely spaced ivory and pale grey vertical stripes. The restrained contrast gives the surface a sharply tailored appearance, while the subtle woven texture keeps the black from looking flat.

About this fabric

This 425gsm fabric has the substantial handle expected of a hard-wearing upholstery cloth. Its fine vertical stripe arrangement alternates narrow light lines with broader ebony bands, creating a measured rhythm across the face. The horizontal pattern repeat is 9.2cm, with no vertical repeat, and the usable width is 138cm. Ebony reads as a cool, inky black in the darker bands, while the lighter stripes add a softened ivory-grey lift.

How to use it

Use Wilmott Ebony on a tailored armchair, sofa or dining seat where its vertical lines can emphasise clean silhouettes. Pair the cool black-and-ivory contrast with pale timber, brushed metal or quiet grey textiles for a controlled, graphic scheme.

Use this weighty ebony stripe to bring crisp vertical structure and strong contrast to upholstered seating.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Wilmott Ebony without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
