About this fabric

Part of the Brett Weaves collection by Colefax and Fowler, Tay Old Blue is a fabric with no repeat, making its small-scale woven texture feel calm and continuous across a surface. The cloth is composed of 55% viscose, 26% cotton and 19% polyester, and at approximately 139cm wide it offers a practical width for a range of interior projects. Visually, the yarns blend into a subdued blue-grey ground with a slightly weathered look, while the weave catches the light just enough to keep the finish lively. The overall effect is smart but relaxed, with a softer, cooler note than a brighter denim blue.

How to use it

Use this shade where you want colour without commitment: it is especially strong on clean-lined upholstery, cushions or simple drapery. Its muted blue-grey tone sits well with natural timber, chalky whites and deeper navy accents.

A restrained blue-grey weave that works beautifully on tailored upholstery or elegant curtains.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
