Dianthus Aqua

Marius FabricF4849-01

Dianthus Aqua shows a pale aqua ground lifted by embroidered-looking florals in pink, coral, gold and soft blue. The overall effect is fresh and decorative, with the repeating botanical motif clearly defined against the cool background.

About this fabric

From the Marius collection by Colefax and Fowler, Dianthus Aqua is a patterned fabric with a large vertical repeat of approximately 76cm and a horizontal repeat of approximately 65cm, so it is best planned with care when matching across wider spans. The cloth is 130cm wide and made from 37% viscose, 32% linen, 26% cotton and 5% polyester, giving the surface a balanced woven handle rather than a flat printed look. In this colourway, the aqua ground reads soft and slightly misty, which keeps the pink and coral flower heads looking bright without becoming brash. The cooler blue-green background also lets the gold and sage stems sit gently into the design, making the pattern feel elegant and lightly traditional.

How to use it

Pair Dianthus Aqua with chalky paintwork, pale timber and simple trims to keep the aqua ground luminous. It works especially well in a room that needs pattern and colour without losing an airy, smart feel.

Use it for statement curtains or a formal occasional chair to let the aqua ground keep the embroidery-like motifs feeling fresh.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Dianthus Aqua without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
