Knole Damask Venetian Red

Suffolk Damasks and Stripes FabricZOF0213-04

Knole Damask Venetian Red has a muted, dusty red ground with darker tonal shadows and softly catching highlights across its intricate scrolling damask. The close, symmetrical pattern gives the surface a deep, textile-rich appearance without relying on sharp contrast.

About this fabric

The woven-looking surface is filled with repeated ornamental scrolls, curling foliage and small floral details, all held within a restrained Venetian red palette. At 230gsm and 140cm usable width, this mid-weight fabric is suited to both upholstery and drapery. Its pattern repeat measures 58cm vertically by 70cm horizontally, creating a measured rhythm across larger lengths. In this colourway, the red reads warm and softened, with lighter rose-toned threads bringing gentle relief to the darker motif.

How to use it

Use the softened Venetian red on a statement chair, dining seat or full-length curtains where its formal damask pattern can provide depth. Balance the warm shade with chalky neutrals, aged wood and understated metallic accents.

Pair the warm, dusty red with aged timber, antique brass and quiet neutral upholstery for a richly layered scheme.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Knole Damask Venetian Red without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
