King's Velvet Verdigris

Historic Royal Palaces VelvetBF10658.795

King's Velvet Verdigris is a deep blue-green velvet with cloudy tonal variation across its surface. The brushed pile catches the light unevenly, creating subtle shifts between charcoal teal and cooler verdigris.

About this fabric

This velvet is woven from 69% viscose, 19% cotton and 12% polyester, with a 140 cm (55") width. Its dense-looking surface is visually softened by irregular, smoky mottling rather than a printed motif, giving the dark teal colour depth. With a 50,000 Martindale rub test, it is specified for curtains, loose upholstery, fixed upholstery and bedspreads. It must not be washed, bleached or ironed, and requires professional dry cleaning.

How to use it

Use the cool, shadowed verdigris tone on a statement chair, sofa or headboard where its shifting pile can be seen close up. It also brings depth to full-length curtains or a bedspread, especially alongside aged brass, dark timber and warm neutral upholstery.

A deep, mottled verdigris velvet with a light-catching pile, suited to tailored upholstery and rich curtains.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
