About this fabric

From the Dante Velvet collection by Colefax and Fowler, this fabric is 100% cotton and measures approximately 140cm wide, with a vertical and horizontal repeat of 0cm, making it a plain velvet with no pattern shift to worry about. The colour is a shadowy amethyst, leaning toward plum and wine rather than bright violet, so it feels rich and restrained rather than vivid. Its dense velvet pile absorbs light at the centre and lifts slightly at the edges, which adds a subtle tonal movement across the surface. With its upholstery-friendly weight and fire code √CM, it is well suited to hardworking furniture where a deep, atmospheric colour is wanted.

How to use it

Use this in a dimmer sitting room, library, or bedroom where the dark plum tone can anchor timber, brass, and pale upholstery. It also works beautifully on a statement chair or sofa, where the velvet pile can show off its depth and sheen.
